If
you're thinking about getting a Big Cat.....
Having been involved with big cats of our own, we well know the
commitment required to properly and legally maintain a place of
contentment and safety. Because each cat is individual in its
needs, we do not offer blanket statements in care. We will gladly
answer questions, though we can only offer what has worked for
us. There is a vast amount of information available that we will
happily direct you to.
Also,
please keep in mind that exotic animals are not for everyone.
It
is VITAL that this type of undertaking NOT be based on a whim,
an impulse, the need to cuddle cause its an adorable baby or because
you think it will make you 'cool'!! They require sincere dedication,
knowledge, and specialized care. Should you ever consider having
them become part of your lives MAKE SURE to consider carefully
what you are undertaking.
Do
your research!!! Don't be afraid to ask for licenses, and references
of a breeder you are considering dealing with. If something sounds
to good to be true, it probably is, and THAT will most likely
result in one more cat needing a new place to call home.
Check
ALL of your local, state and federal laws BEFORE you acquire an
animal.
Find
every source of information you can !!! One thing we can say for
certain is there is ALWAYS more to learn.
Have
a vet lined up BEFORE you have the animal. Exotic vets are a rarity,
and not all vets are willing or able to work with non domestic
felines. Vet care is essential. NO WEB SITE CAN TAKE THE PLACE
OF APPROPRIATE VET CARE
And
again consider YOUR responsibility TO the animal(s) and if you
are truly ready to make a commitment that could last in the area
of 25 years.
